What this site keeps, and what it does not.
Short version: no cookies, no advertising trackers, and what you enter in the calculator stays in your browser unless you choose to send it.
What you enter in the calculator
The cost calculator runs entirely in your browser. To remember your choices between visits, it saves them in your browser's local storage under the name bookstrapper-calc-v1. That copy stays on your device until you press Reset in the calculator or clear your browser's site data. It is not sent anywhere unless you fill in the optional form.
A short summary of your estimate is also kept in session storage, which is deleted when you close the tab, so it can go with the optional form if you choose to send it.
Share links
As you use the calculator, the page address updates to include your choices (word count, book type, the options you picked and your list prices), so that you can bookmark or share the estimate. Nothing personal is in it, but anyone you send the link to will see those choices. The calculator does not send the address anywhere. When someone opens a shared link, their browser requests that address from the site like any web page, and the site keeps only the daily counts described below.
Counting visits
To know whether the site is useful, it counts events such as "a page was viewed," "the calculator was started" or "an estimate was shared." Each count is stored only as a total per day. No cookie is set, and no IP address, device ID or other identifier is stored with the counts.
Links that carry campaign tags
If you arrived from a link with campaign tags in the address (such as utm_source), the site keeps those tags in session storage and sends them with the optional form, so Scribe knows which link brought you. Links from this site to scribemedia.com are tagged to show they came from here.
If you send the form
Your name, email, optional phone number, the page you sent it from and what you entered in the tool are sent to Scribe Media and stored in Scribe's customer system (HubSpot). Scribe uses them to get in touch with you and as described in the Scribe Media privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Fonts and hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare and loads its fonts from Google Fonts. Like any web server, these receive standard request information such as your IP address in order to deliver the page.
